The Princess Mountains

Albuquerque boasts some major beauty when it comes to the Sandia Mountains. For those of you who may not know, the Sandias are named for their beautiful pink color. When the sun sets, its casts an amazing pink glow on the mountains, thus they acquired their name--the Sandia Mountains (sandia is a Native American word meaning watermellon).

So, on our way home this evening, as the sun was setting, Marlie tells me that she LOVES the mountains. "Do you know why?" She asks. "Because they are Princess Mountains. I think that the Princesses live there because the mountain turns pink. I love LOVE pink!"

Imagine that...Marlie loves pink...I'd have never guessed! I just had to post that little tidbit because I just had never thought of the Sandias in that way before, but she has a valid point...princesses may very well live on the mountain, who knows?
